Unleash tesseract
Up to Three Motors & Up to Two Axes
Our three cost-effective high-tech components
Affordable Linear Motors
Optimized For Range Of Needs
Our flagship linear motors are engineered and optimized for affordability without sacrificing performance. By minimizing production costs while maintaining reliability and precision, this linear motor aims to make advanced automation available to the masses and to companies of all sizes, opening up high-performance technology for widespread use.
Tesseract Technologies introduces two reliable linear motors: the Tesseract X and Tesseract Y. These motors differ in size, weight, and output strength to meet a range of application needs. The Tesseract X provides a continuous force of 30N, while the Tesseract Y delivers a stronger continuous force of 50N. By using these motors together, you can effectively optimize your drive system for improved performance and efficiency.
Controller Board
Easy To Use, Plug-n-Play & Closed-Loop
This compact control system ensures seamless and precise operation for systems with up to two axes, using three motors, three encoders (position sensors), and two endstops. Through our Control Panel, the system is easy to set up, and motor calibration is straightforward, making it accessible for users with minimal technical background. However, for those more advanced in control design, there are options to tweak the control parameters of the position and current controllers and to analyze system behavior in detail.
The board supports various motor configurations, accommodating up to three motors across two axes. It accepts step and direction signals from an external board as tracking inputs, supports up to three encoders, and can use up to three motor drivers (designed specifically for Tesseract Products). With a sample loop running at up to 2.5 kHz, the board provides precise current and position control, meeting the performance needs of most applications.
In addition to compatibility with Tesseract Technologies’ products, the board offers plug-and-play functionality with other three-phase permanent magnet motors. Our goal is to make advanced control technology accessible and user-friendly to drive innovation forward.
Linear Magnetic Encoder
Resolution: 1/4th A Human Hair
To complement the linear motor, our compact linear quadrature magnetic encoder offers a high resolution of 25 micrometers, delivering the level of accuracy necessary for precise movements and applications. Furthermore, the encoder has an absolute speed limit of 20 m/s, which is plug-n-play and could be used in other Mechatronic Systems. This performance ensures that our solution can meet most demands of advanced robotics, automation, and manufacturing environments.
For the linear magnetic encoder to function, a magnetic strip with alternating poles acts as the ‘ruler’ for the relative quadrature encoder. By precisely reading these magnetic poles, the encoder can determine its exact position along the axis. This positional information is then transmitted to the Controller Board, which uses it to calculate the drive signals needed for precise positioning.

How does the technology work?
A three-phase permanent magnet tubular linear motor is a specialized motor designed to move objects in a straight line by harnessing magnetic forces. Unlike traditional motors that rotate, this type of motor creates straight-line motion directly. Picture a straight track with very powerful magnets inside; when electricity flows through the coils surrounding the magnets, it generates magnetic fields that push or pull the motor along the track.
How does a linear motor compare to a belt-driven system?
There are serveral advantages of using linear motors over a belt-driven system:
Direct Motion: Tubular linear motors produce movement directly, eliminating the need for belts or pulleys. This reduction in mechanical parts translates to greater reliability and fewer breakdowns or wear issues over time.
High Precision: Unlike belt-driven systems, which can stretch, slip, or experience slack, tubular linear motors are inherently more accurate. This precision makes them ideal for applications that require exact positioning.
Greater Speed and Acceleration: Tubular linear motors can start and stop quickly, reaching high speeds without the mechanical resistance that belts introduce. This makes them more efficient for high-performance tasks.
Reduced Maintenance: With fewer moving parts, these motors are easier to maintain, reducing operational costs and extending the lifespan of the equipment.
In summary, three-phase permanent magnet tubular linear motors offer a faster, more precise, and lower-maintenance alternative to traditional belt-driven systems. Their efficient design and reliable performance make them ideal for applications requiring precise and rapid linear motion.
